Gelatin tampon
Ear tampons made of purified porcine gelatin are commonly used in otoplasty. They can be applied in a dry or moist state, and have a wide range of applications. They can be used for local haemostasis, keeping fascia or perichondrium in place, or even the local application of antibiotics. The advantages of this material are; good compatibility, complete absorption and the porous structure combined with the light weight.
